About this event
Men's Open/AA Bid Tournament (Colorado Cupcakes)
IMPORTANT: we are trying a different pricing set up for this tournament that we may keep for future AA/Open events. The base price is $65/player, and all entries for the tournament will have their entry ($25) for the 11/14 event waived. If you want to be eligible to win the bid, you must sign up through the opt-in event as well . The other event is $10/player and determines prize eligibility for the tournament. The bid will be given to the highest-placing team that opted in to prizing (which will presumably be the 1st place team, but you never know).
The purpose of this is to test out a model that would allow us to run more cost-friendly AA/Open tournaments in the future. Some players are in it for prizes - other players are in it for good competition but know they won't be likely to take home any prizes. The goal is to find a middle ground that gets all the same players playing, but at a friendlier cost point for those teams that aren't really in the running for prizes, and just end up completely subsidizing those who are.
Registrations for the tournament (and prizes) will close on Thursday, Nov 5. Teams can wait and survey the field before deciding to opt-in or out, but do it by that deadline.
Format: 24 team max double elim bracket play. No pool play . As many games as possible will be matches as time allows - we will start play at 8am and we have until 7:30pm to finish.
