Orange Ball 1 — Core Development

Age Range: 9–10

Court & Ball: 60-foot court | Orange ball

Orange Ball 1 focuses on helping players become more consistent and confident while developing the core skills needed to rally, move, serve, and begin playing structured points. Players will build stronger technique while learning to use their skills in more game-like situations.

Skills to Progress to Orange Ball 2

Players are ready to progress from Orange Ball 1 to Orange Ball 2 when they consistently demonstrate the following:

Cooperatively rally 8–10 shots with a coach or peer

Hit an overhand serve in the box 50%+ of the time

Use a split step and recover toward the center of the court

Sustain rallies with peers using developing, consistent technique

Hit crosscourt with intent and appropriate technique

Start points with a serve and serve consistently into the correct service box

Demonstrate consistent rally control and the ability to play structured points
