Beginner Rec Play

About this event

Beginner Play (1.0-2.5)

New to pickleball or still learning the ropes? Join a welcoming, low-pressure beginner play session where learning and fun come first.

Who it’s for:

Brand-new players and those with some experience who are still developing the basics. No prior experience is required. You’ll learn the rules, scoring, and court positioning as you play.

What to expect:

Relaxed, friendly games at a comfortable pace

Helpful tips and guidance from volunteers and fellow players

Practice with serving, returning, and the kitchen (non-volley zone) rule

Plenty of laughs and a supportive community that was once in your shoes

Format:

Players rotate in and out of games so everyone gets plenty of court time and meets new people. Games are typically played to 11, win by 2, though the pace is flexible. Organizers are happy to explain the rules and scoring as you go.

Etiquette and expectations:

Be kind, patient, and encouraging to everyone

Call lines honestly

Ask questions anytime, because everyone here is happy to help

Keep it fun and focus on learning, not winning

What to bring:

Your paddle (loaners are available if you don’t have one), court shoes or clean athletic sneakers, and water. Balls are provided.

Not sure if this is your level?

Come say hello to a club organizer, and we’ll get you set up with the right group. Everyone starts somewhere, and we’re excited to welcome you.
