Coached Open Play

About this event

Coached open play combines the social, drop-in nature of traditional open play with real-time, on-court instruction from a professional coach. These sessions involve guided rotation (e.g., 4 on, 4 off), allowing players to receive tips on positioning, strategy, and technique during actual games, making it ideal for skill improvement.

Key Features of Coached Open Play

Structured Instruction: Coaches provide guidance on proper court positioning, shot selection, and fundamentals (e.g., dinking, serving) during gameplay.

Real-time Feedback: Unlike clinics, coaches provide immediate, actionable feedback on mistakes during game situations, such as, for instance, in the middle of a rally.

Social & Skill-Focused: Provides the community feel of open play while helping players move beyond recreational levels.

Ideal for All Levels: Sessions are often tailored, with specific options for beginners looking to gain confidence and for intermediate players aiming to break through performance plateaus.

Format: 2-hour sessions with a limited number of players to ensure quality coaching interaction.

Benefits:

Accelerated Learning: Players can immediately apply tips to improve their game.

Better Strategy: Coaches help players understand when to "poach" or when to focus on dink placement.

Increased Confidence: Guided play makes it easier for new players to join regular, non-coached, competitive open sessions.
