BCR Rating Session

Find Your Competitive Level at Brighton Pickleball Club

Not sure where you fit within BPC’s competitive play structure? Join us for a BCR Rating Session designed to help you identify the level where you’ll enjoy the most competitive and rewarding play.

During this session, a coach will observe your game through structured drills and live play while evaluating key elements of your performance using USA Pickleball (USAPA) skill guidelines . The goal is to provide an accurate snapshot of your current play so you can confidently participate in the sessions that best match your game.

What We Evaluate

Players are assessed on the core components of pickleball performance, including:

Groundstrokes (forehand and backhand)

Serve and return of serve

Third shot decisions (drops, drives, or resets)

Dinking consistency and control

Transition play and movement through the mid-court

Shot selection and point construction

Court positioning and awareness

Defensive skills and recovery

Ability to sustain rallies under pressure

We will compare your play against the USAPA skill level definitions used throughout the sport to determine where your game best aligns.

Understanding Skill Levels (USAPA Guidelines)

3.0 – Developing consistency. Able to sustain basic rallies, learning dinks and third-shot strategy, and improving court positioning.

3.5 – Consistent play with developing strategy. Players can control dinks, attempt third-shot drops, and demonstrate improved shot selection and movement.
